BTEC Travel and Tourism

What qualification will this course lead to?

BTEC Level 2 Extended Certificate in Travel and Tourism

What topics will I study?

Students will learn about the Travel industry such as airlines, travel agencies and hotel industry. They will investigate what makes a successful Tourism business. Units of study include Customer Service, Marketing, and Travel and Tourism related units. Subjects you might choose to focus on include European holiday destinations, business skills for travel and tourism or UK travel and tourism destinations.

What understanding and skills will I develop?

Students will learn the psychology and training used to make great customer service. They will learn how to support the public in enjoying travelling around the UK and the World. Students will also learn how to manage customers and resources in tourism businesses.

How will I be assessed?

Students will be assessed entirely by coursework submitted to the exam board. Work will be grade Pass (GCSE C equivalent), Merit (GCSE B equivalent) and Distinction (GCSE A & A* equivalent)

What can this course lead to?

The qualification provides a preliminary vocational education and training for those interested in the travel and tourism industry. The component parts of the BTEC First Certificate have a strong business element, making the qualification suitable for learners who wish to move into either employment, training or further education.
