What topics will I study?

GCSE Geography tackles the big issues and topics through new areas of study such as super volcanoes, the growth of enormous cities and the rise of China. It is a course designed to enable you to understand the changes in, and challenges facing, the modern world.

What understanding and skills will I develop?

A key focus of GCSE Geography is to encourage you to develop opinions and proposals about 'Alternative Futures'. This means you will not just study how the world is but how the world could change. You will do so through developing research, investigation and communication skills. Significant opportunities are given to you to use mobile phones for recording fieldwork information. The use of ICT and the internet is increasingly important in recording and processing information from visits and fieldwork and for investigating far off places.

How will I be assessed?

You will be assessed in the following way Examination 75% and Coursework 25%

What can this course lead to?

GCSE Geography is accessible for all ability levels. It can lead onto AS or A level and helps toward the study of Economics and Politics and Diplomas in Travel and Tourism. It is strongly advised for future career choices in armed and uniformed services, architecture, town planning and the Police Force.
