GCSE Product Design - Food Specialism
What qualification will this course lead to?
GCSE in Product Design (AQA)
What topics will I study?
You will study a variety of areas including the design process, different types of manufacturing processes, build knowledge about techniques used in the catering/food industry.
What understanding and skills will I develop?
Product design takes a practical approach that encourages you to design and make products with creativity and originality in a variety of practical activities, using a range of ingredients and techniques. Packaging, labelling and instructions are also encouraged as part of the complete design proposal, while marketing tools, such as advertising and points of sale, can be used to supplement the making experience and help create products which can be evaluated for their commercial viability.
How will I be assessed?
You will be assessed through a controlled assessment and final examination. The controlled assessment is worth 60% of the final GCSE and the exam is worth 40% of the GCSE.

College to study design related courses like product design, food design, cake design, catering or food technology.
