What qualification will this course lead to?

GCSE ICT Single Award (Edexcel)

What topics will I study?

Students have to complete two units: Living in a Digital World and Using Digital Tools. Each of these units will develop and enhance your skills in various ICT software packages as well as your knowledge of ICT as a whole.

What understanding and skills will I develop?

You will learn about current and emerging digital technologies and the issues raised by their use in a range of contexts; work with a range of digital tools and techniques to produce effective ICT solutions in a range of contexts; explore the design of interactive digital products such as websites, computer games and databases; produce an interactive digital product for others to use.

How will I be assessed?

You will be assessed through one externally-assessed 1 hour examination at the end of the course (40%) and a practical portfolio consisting of one controlled assessment (60%).

What can this course lead to?

This course will lead to 1 GCSE. It provides a good foundation to continue studying ICT related subjects at either A-Level or BTEC Level 3.
